Our First Posting

This is our first posting to this blog. We will continue to post weekly to keep you updated on the events leading to our departure Oct. 3rd for Ndalani, Kenya.

You can post a comment, ask questions, share thoughts, experiences, etc. at the bottom of this entry. You can also email us directly at share@collectingconsort.com

We will be working there with the Mully Children's Foundation (MCF) staff and students for two months. We will also be adding posts to keep you informed during our stay

.
Most of our final travel arrangements have been made, and the Ada Bible Church, Grand Rapids (a Mully Children's Foundation sponsor) has supplied us with guitars, penny whistles and a keyboard. These instruments will be donated to the MCF, and we will be using them for musical instruction with the students. We wish to thank Ed Shepard, Phil DeVries and the Ada Bible Church for cordinating this wonderful donation to facilitate our work. We also wish to thank Ed and Phil for all the advice and support they have given to us to undertake this venture.
Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to personally meet with Dr. Mulli, the founder of MCF. He was a guest at the Ada Bible Church. We were deeply moved by the depth of this man and his excitement for our potential involvement with his "children". We look forward to our upcoming mentorship with him and the opportunity to study his unusual capacity to motivate his staff and "children".

On a more personal note, Anne decided to take a trial dosage of her malaria medication this morning. Nausea and chills followed within ten minutes. Wally, our pharmacist seems to feel we will be able resolve the problem. Thanks, Wally.

Thanks are also extended to Gary Hauck, Montcalm Community College and Jerry Jones, 1st. Congregational Church, Greenville for their support and assistance.

A personal thank you goes all of your who have written letters of recommendation, offered your prayers and blessings, and those of you who have made financial contributions.
